Our Project
EMBC System
To extend this sustainable initiative to community and commercial levels, SESB and Entomal Biotech Sdn Bhd have partner up to setup the EMBC, a mobile modular unit of organic waste treatment unit. The EMBC is designed to receive, process, and convert organic waste from wet markets, shopping malls and food centers.
Through this mobile system, organic waste is transformed biologically by BSF larvae into: -
- Dried BSF larvae, which can be further processed into animal feed ingredients
- BSF frass, a natural soil conditioner and organic fertilizer suitable for urban farming and landscaping.
Waste Collection and Processing
- Organic waste (mainly food waste and food ingredient) from wet markets, shopping malls and food centers will be segregated at source by traders and collected daily by designated workers.
- The collected waste will be fed into the EMBC system, where it will be biologically decomposed by BSF larvae over a period of 7 to 10 days.
- The process will produce BSF larvae and frass, which will be harvested and transported to the SESB processing center.
Benefits of EMBC System
-
Reduces landfill-bound organic waste
-
Minimizes odor and leachate problems at the source
-
Decreases greenhouse gas emissions from waste decomposition
-
Produces value-added outputs (larvae and frass)
-
Promotes local awareness and participation in circular economy practices
